ISEP is the first school in Portugal to implement a Master in Artificial Intelligence Engineering
The Master in Artificial Intelligence Engineering (MEIA) is a new training offer from the Higher Institute of Engineering of Porto (ISEP) that represents a bet on Excellence, Innovation and the Future in an area in great development and with a wide range of outputs well-paid professionals at national and international level.
It is a course in the scientific area of Informatics Engineering, but also open to students from other Engineering courses, and is also articulated with the Research Group in Intelligent Engineering and Computing for Innovation and Development (GECAD), an ISEP R&D unit classified with excellent by the Foundation for Science and Technology.
This is the only Master's course in Portugal with the designation Artificial Intelligence, having a comprehensive view of this area of knowledge.
“The Master's course in Engineering and Artificial Intelligence is based on the use of innovative pedagogical practices, especially those that instill capacities in solving complex problems, critical thinking and creativity, basically the 3 main transversal competences planned for 2020 by employers (Top 10 Soft Skills 2020) ”, says Luiz Faria, director of ISEP's Computer Engineering Department.
Such practices can have an integrating character with regard to the development of joint practical work between students of this Master and other students from ISEP and IPP with training in different areas (multidisciplinarity), or development of projects that intend to respond to open challenges that encourage the students' innovation and creativity.
The course covers main methodologies and technologies of Artificial Intelligence (AI) comprehensively, namely:
- AI Programming Paradigms;
-Planning and Decision Support;
-Natural language; Smart Environments;
-Internet of Things;
-Social aspects of AI;
-Investigation and Innovation in AI;
- AI applications;
-Preparation and Development of Internship / Project / Dissertation.
Additionally MEIA incorporates several pedagogical innovation practices and is adapted to students already inserted in the job market.
MEIA will be presented by the course proponent, Prof. Carlos Ramos, in an online session on the Zoom platform, on the 6th of July, Monday, at 19:30 pm. Participation does not require registration.
