The municipality's investment in this extension will be around 90 thousand euros monthly, compared to the first year of application of the measure.

The Municipal Executive approved the extension of the free of charge transport ticket “Porto.13-15” up to 18 years, for young students residing in the city.

In compensation, the Câmara do Porto will benefit from the alteration of the current model, only paying for the trips that are actually made by the users of this Andante.

In the first year of implementation of this exclusive ticket for the Municipality of Porto, for young people between 13 and 15 years old, the municipality assumed the full cost of the requested tickets. But from now on, the model will be different, which also weighed in the decision of the Chamber to extend the measure to young people in the city until the age of 18.

“From now on, we will only pay for trips that students will enjoy. Previously, this was not the case for purely operational and technical reasons ”, informed Transport Councilwoman Cristina Pimentel, in a private meeting of the Municipal Executive, held this Monday morning, quoted by the Porto news portal (porto.pt).

The proposal is still pending the appreciation of the Municipal Assembly.
