The exhibition “Poético ou Político?”, Curated by João Baeta, organized by Saco Azul and Maus Hábitos, in a co-production with the Porto City Council, will be on display from the 25th of June in different parts of the city

The project Mupi Gallery, the contemporary gallery that occupies the foyer of the Bad habits leaves doors on the 25th of June, occupying the network of MUPIs in the city of Porto, with 48 works by 24 artists.

Conceived in 2015, the project has received a wide program receiving and challenging national and international artists to occupy a backlit MUPI triptych commonly used for advertising.

For this Poetic or Political exhibition, the first in a series of four acts, artists are invited: António Caramelo, António Olaio, Carla Castiajo, Carolina Grilo Santos, Carmo Azeredo & André Covas, Cristina Regadas, Diana Carvalho, Fabrizio Matos, Horácio Frutuoso, Isaque Pinheiro, Israel Pimenta, João Fonte Santa, João Gigante, José Maçãs de Carvalho, Luísa Abreu, Maria Trabulo, Max Fernandes, ± MAISMENOS ±, Paulo Mendes, Pedro Magalhães, Pedro Tudela, Reis Valdrez, Sara & André and Susana Chiocca.

Ao bring two works by each artist for the public space and for devices used by advertising, the MUPIs, with their human scale, the exhibition aims to confront and question those who pass in front of this equipment that has its function altered.

A presence that, because it exists in the sensitive space that is the public space, can reveal the coincidences that exist between poetic doing and political action. The second date of this cycle is scheduled for October 2020 and will be curated by Tales Frey.
