Chef Ricardo Costa and his team return to work on May 29 to prove the menu that celebrates the restaurant's 10 years, now with a solidarity aspect: 10% of the proceeds will go to the Food Bank against Hunger
O The Yeatman This Friday, May 29, reopens its restaurant, awarded with two Michelin stars, and the bar, whose large terrace overlooking the landscape offers a privileged view over the Douro River and the city of Porto.
It did not start as expected, but 2020 is an important year for the The Yeatman and for Chef Ricardo Costa.
Leading the restaurant since the hotel opened in 2010, and two Michelin stars later, the Chef, aged 40, turns 20 and 10 in front of the restaurant. Therefore, on this return to work, the Chief and his team are determined to return to providing special moments at the table.
In view of the difficult times that the country and the world are going through, Restaurante Gastronómico do The Yeatman joins the mission of the Banco Alimentar Contra a Fome do Porto, reverting 10% of the revenues of the month of June to the institution.
“This is our small contribution and, above all, it aims to show how we feel that, more than ever, this is the time to unite, if we create an ecosystem of mutual help at national and global level, that allows us to overcome this difficult time ”says Adrian Bridge, CEO of The Yeatman.
With the utmost rigor and exigency that characterize the two-star Michelin restaurant, all the rules and recommendations of the Directorate-General for Health and Tourism of Portugal are guaranteed, to ensure total safety and comfort in the experience. In this phased return, as advised, the restaurant opens from Thursday to Saturday, at the usual dinner time, starting at 19 pm and last entry at 00 pm.
In addition to the spacious main room, the restaurant offers a terrace on its generous balcony and two private rooms for more exclusive experiences: the Tower Room, with a maximum capacity of 10 people and the Lookout, which, as the name unveils, offers a privileged view over the city. A private and romantic space, which goes directly to the post-quarantine wishlist.

At the table, Chef Ricardo Costa wants to evoke (good) memories and moments of escape, through his gastronomy, which has the guiding thread on the Portuguese coast, bringing the aromas and flavors of the sea to each dish. From the ocean, the lily-cured salt dish, the canned fish and bivalves, two centuries-old techniques from a fishermen's region, arrive. Following the current, the menu presents a new version of the Choco dish, which brings a scenic dimension to the menu and an unusual dish of Raia, accompanied by the “pitau” sauce, a recipe from the masters of fishing made from the livers of the fish.
On the mainland, an Eggplant “disguised” of lamb is unveiled, in a game of textures and flavors, until we reach the restaurant's ex-libris, Leitão, served in the Bairrada way, the result of a work to overcome the Chef and of your team to achieve the perfect technique.
In desserts, the story is told in the first person by the helmsman of the experience. Born in Aveiro, the Chef travels to the memories of the beach days in Costa Nova, with his recreation of Eggs Moles and the famous “Tripa de Aveiro” with chocolate. The greedy combination ends with a refreshing Pineapple from the Azores with green tea, which, coincidentally or not, returns the menu to the ocean.
To accompany the experience, and as it is the prerogative of the restaurant, the wines also draw a route through the identity and diversity of the Portuguese wine regions, crossing the country to the islands. There are now two complement options: a superior selection of six wines that cross five regions, for 170, 00 € per person, or a seasonal selection of six wines specially prepared for the menu, for 80, 00 € per person.

About Dick's Bar and the panoramic terrace
The bar is also an irresistible invitation to enjoy the long and hot days ahead. Here the proposal is more relaxed, with a versatile à la carte menu, for all tastes and moments of the day.
The bar reopens with a continuous schedule from 11 am to 00 pm, every day, making a reunion with what is one of the most appreciated views in the city almost “mandatory”. The space benefits from the long extension of its terrace, where social distance and all safety standards are ensured.
The menu is divided between appetizers, salads, sandwiches and light dishes, whether for a quiet meal or a relaxed combination of snacks and wine in the late afternoon.
Among these, some stand out Chief Ricardo Costa's signature proposals, like the Snack Crab Snack (14 €), the Season Salad, with avocado pear, green and white asparagus, field leaves and house vinaigrette (14 €) or Prego Especial TYH, with veal escalope, ham and Serra cheese (20 €).
Desserts are the perfect excuse to prolong the meal and enjoy the view over the old Porto houses. On the tempting list are Chocolate Cake (8 €), Pudim Abade de Priscos (8 €) or the refreshing ice creams and ice creams produced by the company (12 €). At snack time, A is suggestedfternoon tea do Chef, which includes tea, scones, pastries, smoked salmon sandwiches and roast beef (24 €).
Wine is once again the perfect companion to the good times at The Yeatman. At the bar, the suggestion is to travel through the different regions and profiles of Portuguese wines, from the classic to the irreverent, from the sparkling to the Port wine.
