The Solidary Virtual Marathon is an innovative event that arises from the need to postpone mass sporting events due to the current pandemic situation by COVID-19.

Runporto will promote a 100% online event, which aims to be an opportunity to promote the practice of physical exercise and raise funds for the fight against COVID-19.

The Solidary Virtual Marathon will be held at each participant's home or on the street, but always respecting the social distance imposed by government regulations, with the motto “We run alone, we win together” on May 30 and 31.

What matters is to participate and donate

The concept of the Solidary Virtual Marathon is that all subscribers can participate at any time, anywhere in the world, covering the distance they want in the mode of their choice (running, walking, cycling, or other individual sports). We give as examples of challenges: Running or walking 5km, 10km, 21km or 42km; Bicycle - 30km, 50km, 70km, 100km.

The important thing is to move, but always safely and respecting the restrictions of each country.

Anyone who wants to contribute without participating in sports can register with Dorsal Solidário - Dorsal 0.

Fundraising for the Porto Red Cross

Helping one of the institutions at the forefront, the Porto Red Cross, is the main objective of this event. With the value raised through registration, we can all contribute to improving the response of the Red Cross of Porto to the population.

At the moment, the Portuguese Red Cross is involved in the action #EuAjudoQuemAjuda, providing transport services for patients in ambulances, carrying out tests, assistance through psychosocial and social support lines, dissemination of information and food, medical and accommodation support.

In this operation of the Portuguese Red Cross, nearly 170 volunteers are involved almost permanently and more than 700 Health Technicians and Pre-Hospital Emergency Technicians were trained.

Registration will cost 10 €. Registration is done through the organization's website and includes the Solidarity Donation, the Finisher Medal and the Diploma of digital participation.
